The job description for the Building Systems Student position at PCL Construction in Vancouver, BC, is as follows:

Position: Building Systems Student

Location: Vancouver, BC

Employment Type: Full-time Internship

Duration: 4-12 months, starting in September 2025

Supervisor: Building Systems Manager

Responsibilities:

• Review all contract documentation, including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and specifications.
• Identify potential delays or interferences before the project’s initial start-up.
• Maintain a shop drawing log for all electrical equipment or material submittals and samples.
• Coordinate with applicable trades to ensure timely submission or re-submission of materials.
• Assist in reviewing and providing comments on shop drawings prior to submission to consultants.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical subtrades to gather equipment and material delivery dates for schedule integration.
• Conduct quality control inspections with the consultant and Building Systems Coordinator/Manager.

Qualifications:

• Strong desire to work in a construction environment; prior field construction experience is an asset.
• Proficiency in various computer software programs, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and drafting.

Compensation:

• Hourly wage ranging from $20.20 to $26.00, determined based on completed school terms, relevant work experience, role, and work location.
