Head Chef – Sumac Middle Eastern Cuisine

Sumac Middle Eastern Cuisine is seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position in our restaurant located in Toronto, ON.

Responsibilities:
– Oversee and manage all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating
– Supervise and train kitchen staff on proper food handling, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
– Create and develop new menu items and specials, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and customer preferences
– Order and maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring proper stock levels at all times
– Monitor and adhere to budgetary guidelines, including food cost and labor expenses
– Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
– Collaborate with management and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations

Requirements:
– 5+ years of experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
– Strong culinary skills and knowledge of Middle Eastern cuisine
– Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent communication and organizational skills
– Understanding of food and labor cost control, menu development, and kitchen management
– Certification in Food Safety and Sanitation
– Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
