In this role, reporting to the Director of Project Management, you will be responsible for optimizing the fabrication shop’s efficiency and updating models to reflect real-world conditions. Additionally, you will mentor and advise VDC Designers to ensure they adhere to project standards.

  • Oversee Fabrication Shop Operations: Ensure that projects align with mechanical specifications, construction drawings, and contract requirements.

  • Review and Implement Equipment Shop Drawings: Complete associated checklists to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Participate in Coordination Meetings: Engage in trade coordination and site meetings, leading internal coordination discussions as needed.

  • Model and Coordinate Mechanical Systems: Work on systems such as domestic water, hydronic, drainage, and fire protection piping.

  • Ensure Accurate Equipment Placement: Coordinate access hatches and sleeve locations to ensure proper installation.

  • Identify and Resolve Model Clashes: Utilize software like Revizto, Navisworks, or ACC to address and resolve any discrepancies.

  • Generate Layout Drawings and Spool Sheets: Create detailed drawings and spool sheets for fabrication purposes.

  • Conduct Site Reviews: Verify installations and update models to reflect real-world conditions.

  • Mentor VDC Designers: Provide guidance to ensure compliance with project standards and standard operating procedures.

The ideal candidate should possess over 5 years of experience managing a fabrication shop and at least 2 years of experience working with mechanical and plumbing systems. Proficiency in MS Suite and Jonas software is required, along with a clean safety record and strong leadership skills.

Compensation includes a salary range of $100,000 – $130,000, 3-4 weeks of vacation, 100% extended health coverage, and RRSP matching (3% increasing to 5%).
