Job description: Job DescriptionRemote: This role is categorized as remote. This means the successful candidate is not expected to report to a GM worksite unless directed by their managerThe Role:Reporting to the Income Tax Manager, the successful candidate will be an active team member involved in tax compliance, government audits, and business support.This position offers a great opportunity to:– Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout the company,– Develop:tax skills,systems knowledge (SAP),data manipulation,creative problem-solving, andcommunication skillsTax experience is not required, but the selected candidate should be willing to learn tax rules applicable to GM Canada. This role can be performed remotely, from within Canada.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with preparation of the corporate income tax return supporting documentation.Complete month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, indirect tax returns, and calculation and remittance of tax payments.Establish and maintain high standards of documentation and support for journal entries, account reconciliations, and tax returns.Develop and apply knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislationSupport GM Canada’s government tax audits by working with internal business partners and systems to develop responses to audit queries.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSPursuit of a Bachelor’s (3rd or 4th year) or Master’s degree in Business/Commerce (Accounting or Finance major preferred)Previous tax or accounting related experience is an assetEffective oral and written communication skillsSelf-directed, able to work with minimal supervision, with a drive for resultsProven teamwork skills and interest in learning about tax laws and GM Canada systemsAdvanced Excel knowledge is strongly preferred (Vlookups, Pivot Tables, etc)TO APPLY FOR THIS POSTION YOU MUST APPLY HERE AND APPLY THROUGH YOUR SCHOOL’S ONLINE SYSTEM AS REQUIREDNOTE- YOU MUST BE ENROLLED IN A CO-OP OR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AND MEET THE PROGRAM’S ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS.
