The position requires strong prioritization and project management skills, with a global focus across all geographic areas. The role involves close collaboration with the Manager of Management Systems and Integration, as well as the Manager of Sustainability Assurance and Teck.
Teck Resources is seeking a Lead, Sustainability Compliance to guide the company’s sustainability compliance strategy. This role involves supporting the sustainability assurance program, ensuring adherence to compliance obligations and voluntary responsible mining standards. The ideal candidate will have a detailed understanding of responsible production standards in the extractives industry, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and strong organizational, prioritization, and project management abilities.
Key Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership: Act as a courageous safety leader by adhering to and promoting safety and environmental rules and procedures.

Compliance Program Management: Oversee the curation and management of sustainability compliance programs across Teck’s operations, partnering with site teams to ensure adherence to compliance obligations and responsible mining standards.

Compliance Working Group Leadership: Manage the compliance working group to establish processes for compiling compliance obligation registers with practical requirements for operational implementation, enhancing compliance maturity.

Compliance Obligation Identification: Identify all compliance obligations for Health, Safety, Environmental, and Community (HSEC) aspects in all jurisdictions where Teck operates.

Site-Specific Compliance: Screen and track applicable compliance obligations per site from the Teck compliance obligations register, developing specific tasks to support site implementation of the first line of defense for compliance.

Permit and License Management: Liaise with sites to determine site-specific permits and licenses, contributing to the compliance obligations register.

Tool Development: Develop and maintain tools for identifying and maintaining HSEC compliance obligations for Teck sites.

Collaboration with HSEC Platform: Work with the HSEC platform owner to include compliance obligations into the compliance library.

Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with diverse functions to determine first-line activities required for meeting compliance objectives.

Capacity Building: Build knowledge and capacity within Teck for the compliance strategy, collaborating with sites to enhance compliance maturity.

Consultant Management: Lead all aspects of consultant engagement as required during implementation.

Material Development: Develop internal and external materials required for external assurance for membership and voluntary responsible mining standards.
Qualifications:

A detailed understanding of responsible production standards in the extractives industry.

Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.

Ability to build productive and collaborative relationships across Teck with team members, site practitioners, and functional teams.

Willingness to travel up to 15% internationally to various Teck site locations.
This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $105,000 to $130,000 per year and is based in Vancouver, BC. The closing date for applications is June 6, 2025.
