The job description for the Network Analyst position at InSync in Vancouver, BC, is as follows:
Position: Network Analyst
Location: Vancouver, BC
Employment Type: Contract (12-month term with possible extensions), Full-time (36.25 hours per week)
Role Overview:
As a Network Analyst, you will be part of a senior team responsible for planning, implementing, and delivering data, voice, and video network services to meet the company’s operational, tactical, and strategic objectives. Your role will involve making recommendations, creating and reviewing plans for network infrastructure changes, and developing standards to maximize the availability, functionality, and utilization of the network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and instruction to Network Technicians and Analysts in reviewing, assessing, and recommending changes to network infrastructure to address business and technical requirements.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementing changes to the network infrastructure.
- Offer consulting expertise to Project Managers, Business Analysts, and network clients regarding network infrastructure requirements for projects requiring network services.
- Develop project-related documentation, including detailed requirements specifications, evaluation criteria, proposed budgets, implementation plans, communication plans, and network diagrams.
- Act as a senior consultative resource and point of escalation for Network Technicians, Analysts, and other IM/IT technical staff.
- Provide tier-3 operational support for the network infrastructure.
- Monitor and track day-to-day operations of network services using various tools.
- Advise the Manager on network issues affecting utilization, performance, or functionality, including potential financial impacts.
- Install, upgrade, and maintain network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators, terminal servers, VOIP infrastructure, voicemail systems, DNS and DHCP services, network authentication services, and network management systems.
- Investigate network-related incidents and problems using various hardware and software tools.
- Create network documentation required for supporting operational processes and procedures.
- Develop plans to ensure the availability, functionality, and reliability of the network infrastructure for all networked applications.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer systems technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a network analyst or in a similar role.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide direction and mentorship.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and set priorities for oneself and others.
