In response to the growing renewable energy market in Canada, WSP is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer specialized in embankment dam engineering. The successful candidate will join the design team to support ongoing projects across Canada, based in our Vancouver office.
Key Responsibilities:

Design embankment dams, dykes, and cofferdams (new or rehabilitation works) and dam stabilization works, including parameter evaluation, geotechnical analyses, and preliminary design.

Conduct site inspections.

Perform Dam Safety Reviews of embankment dams, including inspection and monitoring of geotechnical instruments and data analysis/interpretation.

Develop detailed designs of embankment dams, including drawing supervision and specification preparation.

Provide technical support during construction.

Guide engineers, technicians, and drafting teams.

Ensure quality control of deliverables by participating in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and design reviews.

Support business development activities and team development.

Contribute to the growth of the business unit.

Perform other related tasks to enhance project execution and technical development of the business unit.
Qualifications:
-
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering with a specialization in dam engineering is an asset).

Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in a Canadian province.
-
Proven experience in embankment dam engineering (geotechnical).

Experience in embankment dam inspection and Dam Safety Review.

Knowledge of legislation and guidelines related to dam safety.

Multidisciplinary versatility, leadership skills, dynamic, team-oriented, quality-focused, and technical excellence.
