Project Overview:
The role involves overseeing the construction of a 9 km tunnel, requiring expertise in geological, geotechnical, civil, or structural engineering. The position is site-based in Squamish, BC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee a team of inspectors on-site.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Review drawings and technical specifications to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Monitor daily construction activities to meet design, contract, safety, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Review and evaluate contractor submittals, including RFIs, RFVs, and geotechnical information.
  • Provide engineering evaluations and advice on contractor payments and claims.
  • Participate in weekly, monthly, and ad hoc meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, site entities, and contractors.
  • Maintain construction records and photographs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in civil construction, monitoring and inspection, or design environments.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geological, Geotechnical, Mining, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • P. Eng designation preferred or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design software.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical capability to perform site inspections, including walking, standing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
