Position Overview:
Hatch is seeking a Site Manager specializing in Geological, Geotechnical, Civil, or Structural Engineering to join the site team for a 9 km tunnel construction project in Squamish, BC. This is a site-based role responsible for construction management and inspection services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the team of inspectors on site.
  • Coordinate with the Client, Contractor, and other entities on site.
  • Review drawings, technical specifications, and ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Provide oversight and verification of daily construction activities to ensure they meet design, contract, safety, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Review inspector’s daily inspection reports, compliance reporting, and quality verification.
  • Organize and maintain construction records and photographs.
  • Review, evaluate, and respond to contractor’s submittals, including RFIs, RFVs, clarifications, geotechnical information, and effects on schedule.
  • Provide engineering evaluation and advice on contractor payments and claims.
  • Review and provide input into monthly progress reports regarding engineering and construction progress.
  • Actively participate and collaborate in weekly, monthly, and ad hoc meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with the Client, other site entities, and Contractor.
  • Be available for on-site inspectors over the weekend and/or holidays should an issue arise on site.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in civil construction, monitoring and inspection, or design environment. Preferred experience in underground, tunneling, and management. P. Eng preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geological, Geotechnical, Mining, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design software.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Interest in infrastructure and civil engineering.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including walking, standing, lifting, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, squatting, and inspecting in tight spaces.
