Our client, a leading furniture retailer, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in Toronto. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. You will also be responsible for providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
– Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
– Coordinate and prepare annual budgets and forecasts
– Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and variances
– Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes
– Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
– Develop and maintain internal controls
– Monitor cash flow and liquidity to support business operations
– Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior management
– Assist with the preparation of tax filings and audits
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
– CPA designation is preferred
– 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance
– Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
– Experience in the retail industry is an asset
