- Responsible for reviewing concrete mix designs for testing purposes
- Responsible for providing testing for the concrete group
- Communication with Superintendents, Contractors, Owners, Consultants, and other Ministry officials
- Calculation of data entry of test results as required
- Ensure prompt and accurate testing and reporting of materials
- Ensure all equipment is functioning and calibrated
- Responsible for evaluating the performance of available materials
Qualifications
- Various certifications (CCIL/ACI concrete testing) as required
- Understanding of concrete testing procedures
- Experience with QC procedures for field and/or laboratory testing
- Post Secondary Education in a related field is an asset
- Must be detail orientated
- Working on/near construction sites
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment when required
- Experience with MTO/CSA concrete is an asset
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Ability to work long/flexible hours
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, walk over uneven terrain, lift and transport testing equipment and samples, bend for prolonged periods of time during testing
- Travel Required & must have a valid driver’s license

- Develop a thorough understanding of divisional workforce plans and proactively ensure job postings are current and reflect business requirements
- Schedule and hold interviews, negotiate, and roll out offers and complete onboarding documentation on HRIS
- Evaluate candidates by utilizing competency-based interviewing and scoring framework
- Ensure requisition to hire process is followed for all open positions
- Lead in person HR orientations for spring start ups and regular works

Labour/Employee Relations
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR related enquiries including policies, programs, payroll, vacation entitlement, employment verification, benefits and pension
- Partner with ops to increase participation in engagement surveys, communicate the results with employee groups and monitor action items and ensure they are closed within the allocated time
- Ensure Miller policy, contractual obligations and best practices are adhered to while investigating and disciplining employees.
- Respond to general inquiries on policies and processes; escalate issues as needed for timely resolution
- Educate and coach employees and ops managers on their rights and obligations to maintain a harmonious workplace so everyone feels physically and psychologically safe and empowered to do their best work
Corporate GovernanceAs the subject matter expert, educate and coach employees and managers on Colas and Miller group policies and code of ethics interpretation and application.What you’ll bring:
- A degree or diploma in Business Administration and/or a Human Resources related discipline
- CHRP designation or Candidate
- 5+ years of relevant HR work experience within a Human Resources department with at least 3 years in an HR Generalist capacity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with HRIS
- Ability to influence, establish rapport and work with a diverse group of senior management and staff within a variety of businesses, as well as with management and staff in business unit head offices and corporate office
- Proven experience working with both structured and unstructured organizations and matrixed environments
- High energy, a strong work ethic, resiliency, versatility and flexibility with a results orientation
- Knowledge and experience with Labor relations, employment standards and human rights legislation
- Ability to travel
