Job description: Pediatric Neurology Service includes inpatient and ambulatory services, the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program and the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. The Registered Dietitian (RD) will use their clinical skills & knowledge to provide nutrition services through nutrition assessment, care planning, charting, intervention, goal setting, monitoring, counselling. This dietitian will be responsible for ketogenic nutrition assessment as well as creating, implementing & monitoring ketogenic diet plans to support our complex epilepsy population. This position will also involve counselling of patients & parents throughout the treatment of ketogenic diet therapy.The RD will be working with specific focus on patients who have epilepsy and some metabolic disorders that require support with medical ketogenic diet therapy. The RD will consult and communicate with the multidisciplinary team and community agencies as appropriate. The RD may also have opportunity to partake in research, clinical studies, student education and supervising dietetic interns.Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or eligibility for registration
- Baccalaureate degree in Applied Human Nutrition or equivalent and successful completion of dietetic internship
- Recent (1 to 2 years) experience (within the last 3 years) as a Registered Dietitian in an acute tertiary care pediatric setting
- Demonstrated knowledge working with infants, children, adolescents and their families as they pertain to pediatric diabetes, cystic fibrosis and general pediatrics
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in health teaching, dietetic assessment, treatment and counseling with pediatric patients and their families
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced changing environment
- Excellent communication, teamwork, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Membership with Dietitians of Canada required.
