Job Description

As a key member of the Critical Care team, the successful incumbent provides direct care to patients within the framework of the Registered Nurse. The RN will work in collaboration and interact with all members of the Intensive Care Unit multidisciplinary team and other personnel. The successful incumbent demonstrates professional responsibility, is accountable for own practice, and demonstrates actions consistent with hospital policies and procedures. This position works all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. Other duties as per job fact sheet.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required
  • Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
  • Two (2) years’ of current experience in ICU required
  • BCLS, ACLS required
  • Certifications for ECG, defibrillation, intravenous certification, IV medication, epidural, and pulmonary artery monitoring required
  • Critical Care Program certificate required
  • Excellent physical assessment skills required
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal) essential
  • Problem solving ability and crisis intervention skills required
  • Keyboarding skills and knowledge of Meditech and OmniCell would be a definite asset
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
