  • Utilize expertise in nutrition screening and assessment to ascertain the specific nutritional requirements of diverse patient demographics
  • Assess the efficacy of nutrition care plans and recommend necessary adjustments as warranted
  • Employ professional discretion to modify and implement guidelines, protocols, and professional care standards in response to evolving patient requirements
  • Analyze emerging trends and advancements in dietary methodologies, exploring their suitability for integration into the clinical nutrition regimen.
  • Serve as an educator by designing, delivering, and/or engaging in training sessions and in-service educational initiatives

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nutrition program with completion of an accredited dietetic internship program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Member of Dietitians of Canada an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a Special Care Nursery and Pediatrics and medicine within the adult population
  • Experience with neonatal parenteral nutrition support and Pasteurized Donor Milk Program
  • Experience with Enteral and Parenteral nutrition support required
  • Broad-based understanding of clinical nutrition needs across diverse patient populations
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Possesses outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changes in patient care and the evolving healthcare landscape
  • Possess strong negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of patients and the profession itself

Job description: POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for completion of all Nutrition Referrals ordered by physicians, nursing, or the inter-disciplinary team or as part of program standards. Recent experience in a Special Care Nursery preferred. The Registered Dietitian screens and classifies nutritional risk and/or risk for malnutrition, according to pre-established criteria. The Registered Dietitian also provides consultative and education services to patients, physicians, learners, other health care providers and the public. The purpose of the Registered Dietitian job is to reduce nutrition related complications that impact hospital length of stay, morbidity, mortality (i.e., falls, swallowing issues, wounds) and/or progression of an acute or chronic medical condition (i.e., Diabetes, Obesity, Kidney Disease, Eating Disorder).
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Accredited post-graduate Dietetic Internship, Master’s degree or equivalent
-Regulated Health Professional from College of Dietitians of Ontario
-CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) or CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) may be beneficial in some areas, preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:
