Role: Data Engineer

The Nielsen Company is a global leader in measurement and data analytics, providing critical information, insights, and solutions to media and advertising industries. We are seeking a highly motivated Data Engineer to join our team in Markham, ON.

Key Responsibilities:

– Design and develop data solutions to support various business needs
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand data requirements
– Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes
– Implement data quality and validation processes to ensure accuracy and reliability of data
– Develop and maintain data warehousing and storage solutions
– Perform data modeling and optimization
– Support ad-hoc data analysis and reporting requests
– Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data engineering

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
– 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related role
– Proficiency in SQL, Python, and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, or SSIS)
– Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and methodologies
– Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
– Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
– Ability to work independently and in a team environment
– Effective communication and presentation skills
