Job description: About the Role:Events Team Summer Youth Internship Facilitator will play a vital role in planning, organizing, and delivering a wide range of engaging and culturally relevant activities for Métis youth. This dynamic position is ideal for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual who thrives in collaborative environments and is passionate about creating inclusive, meaningful experiences. Working closely with internal teams, community partners, and other stakeholders, the Facilitator will help ensure the smooth coordination and successful delivery of events. The role also offers opportunities to develop new skills and explore areas of interest within the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO).What you will be doing:

  • Respond promptly and professionally to internal inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings related to the Annual General Assembly (AGA) and other events.
  • Develop and prepare supporting materials to promote the AGA and various Events Team initiatives.
  • Handle all information with a high level of discretion and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the effective delivery of events and programming.
  • Branch-Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Event Planning: Organize and coordinate a variety of online and/or in-person activities using provided content, ensuring a diverse and engaging schedule for all participants.
  • Event Facilitation: Support and deliver on-site coordination during the Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Sault Ste. Marie, contributing to a positive and well-organized participant experience.
  • Logistics Management: Oversee logistical components such as scheduling, supply procurement, and resource preparation to ensure smooth and timely event execution.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Events Team, MNO branch staff, community councils, and external partners to support efficient planning and maximize available resources.
  • Participant Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to encourage active participation and foster a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere at all events and activities.
  • Communication: Clearly communicate event schedules, expectations, and updates to participants, staff, and volunteers through various verbal and written channels. Support the MNO Communications Branch by assisting in the collection of video and photographic content.
  • Problem Solving: Address issues or unexpected challenges during events with timely and effective solutions to maintain a seamless participant experience.
  • Documentation: Accurately document event outcomes, gather participant feedback, and maintain records to support future planning and evaluation.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities adhere to MNO policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Participate in required internal and external training as assigned by program leads.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with MNO Policies and Procedures, including safety regulations in all activities and participate in internal and external training, as assigned by program leads.
  • Promotes the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with others (employees, citizens, council, volunteers, advocates, etc.)
  • Reports all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and adheres to all Health and Safety requirements within the MNO’s policies and procedures and provincial legislation.
  • Performs other job/branch-related duties as required.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Must be Métis
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be 18 to 29 years of age at the start of summer employment
  • Must be registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year (Some applicants who do not meet the “student status” requirement will be considered.)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, research, co-ordinate, organize, and implement program activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)
  • Ability to effectively and courteously interact with the public
  • Demonstrated to be very responsible and reliable.
