And, we value your commitment to treat every person on our team with respect, helping us to operate safely, protect the environment and make a positive contribution to our local communities.ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYBased at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mine Maintenance Electrical Lead Hand to join our Mobile Maintenance team reporting to the Mine Maintenance Electrical Supervisor.Detour Lake is the largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.The Mine Maintenance Electrical Lead Hand will be responsible for providing support to the Mobile Maintenance team by being accountable for directing the workforce on daily maintenance and repair of electric rope shovels, hydraulic excavators, rotary drills and pit cabling all the while ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory procedures.RESPONSIBILITIESYour responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing and providing expertise for all electrical activities related to mining and mobile equipment maintenance;
- Leading and coaching team members in the achievement of maintenance safety and productivity targets;
- Developing and implementing standards and procedures that meet all statutory and regulatory requirements;
- A good understanding of motor control logic and MCC (600V), DC motor control (static drive) and AC drives;
- Basic instrumentation troubleshooting (temperature sensor, pressure sensor and tachometer);
- Understanding of PLC logic and providing troubleshooting activities as required;
- Maintain equipment rated for 24 volt to 25 KV;
- Use of various tools such as: voltmeter, megger and ampere meter;
- Ensure that safety issues are reported to the supervisor and promptly remedied;
- Scheduling and planning electrical and mechanical maintenance to maximize equipment availability and reduce down time.
QUALIFICATIONSOur ideal candidate has:
- Ontario provincial or inter-provincial (Red Seal) trade certificate is preferred;
- 10 years’ experience in a maintenance capacity;
- 2-5 years’ experience in a supervisory and/or lead hand role;
- A general understanding of computers; Microsoft & Outlook
- Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team of employees;
- Experience with open pit mining equipment, with electrical shovels and drills being a strong asset;
- Experience working at a remote work site is an asset.
