Schedule: HYBRID (2 days a week in office)Description
To perform signaling design, analysis, modelling, and simulation to specify communication-based train control systems. develop and dene system design features to meet Customer requirements. To analyze and evaluate designs to verify compliance with system technical requirements. To develop and define Subsystems requirements. To develop block design, interlocking control tables, and application database for Software subsystems. To analyze and evaluate system performance and prepare associated technical contract deliverables.The incumbent is accountable for performing the design work correctly, within cost and schedule limits, as defined in approved work packages. The work is typically denied by the Work Package Manager, then reviewed, modified, and agreed with and approved by the Systems Architect and/or Manager. The System Engineer typically works with a team of engineers to dene what will be designed, how it will perform and how it will be determined that it is working correctly.Responsibilities.TECHNICAL
- Converts Customer (internal and/or external) requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-o studies evaluating alternative design congurations and functional features.
- Similarly creates new concepts or modies existing concepts to full customer requirements.
- Performs technical/engineering tasks to dene, application databases for software subsystems. Analysis and simulations are performed as necessary to identify design feasibility & driving requirements.
- Prepares specialized signaling design skills, covering one or more of the following:
- Signaling Principles;
- Block design;
- Interlocking control tables;
- Safe braking model;
- Performance analysis and Headway simulations;
- Application database design;
- Prepares and supports bids and proposals, including customer requirements compliance assessment, gap analysis architecture design, simulation, trade-o of key features, estimation, etc.
- Presents technical design and reports to customers and/or other engineering/management groups in clear, completely concise and non-ambiguous terms.
- Denes or proposes updates of processes and standards covering the work and its products based on the knowledge of systems engineering and/or his technical specialty.
- Operational design limits are evaluated and defined; performance analyses and simulations are developed &performed to support the above.
- Ensure the signaling design is implemented in accordance with applicable standards and signaling principles.
- Interface and build strong working relationships with Software, Hardware and IVVQ groups to ensure timely analysand resolution of in-house and eld test issue.
MANAGEMENT (LR8)

- Supervises contractors and other systems specialists, by defining their work, coaching them on how and what to prepare, monitoring their progress and directing them on priorities.
- Proposes work package estimates and descriptions based on the knowledge of the work and project requirements.
- Prepare and deliver regular status reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
Safety:
- Promote a safety culture where product safety is paramount.
- Ensure that safety is built into the design by early identification and resolution of safety related defects.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
- University degree in Computer sciences, Engineering or a closely related eld.
- Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in development of software-based System applications.
- Strong application (automated train control systems) domain knowledge & Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, methods, and tools.
- Knowledge of systems development life cycle.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Good marketing and presentation skills.
- Ability to sell/defend prod to customers with diering levels of knowledge about automated systems.
- Strong planning and organizational skills. Experience in using DOORS, Melody advance, etc.. Rail Signaling knowledge (desirable).
Certifications: P.
