Job description: Scope of Position
The Business Development Intern will support the growth and delivery of EDF Renewables Canada and US Northeast region portfolio, supporting the Project Development team. This includes focus on the identification, evaluation, structuring, and execution of acquisitions and project off-take, and responsibility for driving market research, competitive analysis, and financial analysis for the regions. Further, the Intern will support strategic projects for identifying new and update initiatives in the region.
Responsibilities
Business Development

  • Identify and assess key markets, technologies and stakeholders, through special projects for the regional development team project success.

Strategic Planning, Forecasting, and Budgeting

  • Providing support in the development of financial and business plans.
  • Supporting the preparation and submittal of budgets, plans, forecasts and executive communications.

Market Research

  • Performing market research.
  • Structuring and managing the Region’s market intelligence file repository.
  • Developing, updating, and improving the Region’s market research and financial analysis methodology and support pricing efforts with financial analysis.

Other duties as assigned
Goals of the Internship:

  • Special projects related to technology and investment viability in certain regions will give the intern experience across many areas of the business, including: development practices, capital investments, project deployments, DCF modelling and financing structures.
  • Further, the internship will provide experience in power marketing, with focus on off-take structures and investment viability of each type.

Skills to acquire:

  • DCF of renewable energy, with focus on investment criteria decisions
  • Development life-cycle – from greenfield to energization of a project
  • Learn technologies (Solar, Wind, Energy storage, Long duration storage and Hydrogen)

Qualifications
Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Infrastructure, Energy or related field is preferred.
  • Preference of 3+ years of related experience in management consulting or renewable energy.
  • Advanced knowledge of Office 365; MS Project, Teams, Visio, Word, Excel, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Outstanding interpersonal oral and written communication, presentation skills required.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, ability to work well with others and be a good team player
  • Strong organizational, communication and management skills
  • Ability to adapt to evolving competitive landscape and work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of organizational skills.

Working Conditions:
100% office settings (3-4 days in office)
