In this position you will have various responsibilities including: purchasing of equipment, management of our internal database, basic equipment maintenance, technical support and troubleshooting (remote and on location), equipment co-ordination, training, technical writing and researching new equipment. You will be a central point of contact for all our domestic and foreign bureau staff.As the Supervising Technician, you provide specialized technical and production guidance, by leading employees, and by undertaking the overall coordination of assigned programs, areas or projects in Audio and Video. Creative problem solving is required to solve operational difficulties, to assess and optimize the use of resources, and to motivate others. The ability to act quickly, while remaining calm under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven environment is a must.Key Tasks:– Maintains familiarity with technical or production installations and any associated equipment.– Conducts surveys and prepares detailed reports.– Acting as a consultant, provides assistance and advice on operational requirements in terms of equipment, facilities and personnel and procedures, creates, edits and produces written documentation on equipment and workflows.– Within delegated limits, plans, assigns, schedules, coordinates and checks the work of assigned staff and reports on matters related to job performance, conduct and safety.– Trains new staff and advises management on their progress. Arranges training.– Verifies the accuracy of time reports and work performed.– Undertakes reviews of the operations, operating procedures, technical standards and maintenance activities. Submits recommendations for improvements or modifications.– Recommends safety procedures. Plans and maintains safety measures and programs for personnel, property and equipment.– Reviews, investigates and verifies reports and institutes any action as necessary.– Within delegated authority and in consultation with the supervisor:– Commits the Corporation in arranging, with outside persons or firms, for the provision of supplies or services– Reviews or directs such arrangements– Verifies delivery of material or completion of service.– As assigned or required, may perform any or all of the following tasks:– Within delegated limits, hire staff for casual requirements– Provide specialized assistance and work in close consultation with Engineers and Technologists– Provide input to the budget process.– Participate in the selection and evaluation of new staff.– Performs all or part of the function or duties of equivalent or lower classifications.Please note that this is a Weekend Shift positionQualifications:We are looking for a candidate with the following:– French an Asset– Community college graduation in Radio or Television arts courses, or equivalent industry experience.– Minimum 4 years directly related experience.– Requires a superior knowledge and understanding of radio or television program production and presentation methods.
