Freddie’s mission is an ambitious one: halving the transmissions of new HIV infections in Canada. HIV is on the rise in Canada, and over 50% of new HIV cases are in the LGBTQ2S+ community. Freddie is a health tech start-up that connects patients with physicians free of charge, through telemedicine. Freddie has built a direct-to-consumer telemedicine offering to enable this community to access HIV prevention medication that reduces the risk of acquiring HIV by 99%, just virtually. This medication is called Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP. Freddie was launched and is operated by PurposeMed Inc., a Calgary-based virtual care company.

We have recently begun expanding our content marketing efforts and are in need of a Marketing Intern to work directly with our Content Marketing Manager. As our new Marketing Intern, you will assist the marketing team on the development of our digital magazine, newsletter & other email flows, website copy, and social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram & Reels, and Pinterest.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the brainstorming, creation, scheduling, & posting of content on social media, our website, and our email
  • Replying to comments & DMs from customers via social media
  • Managing outreach & consistent communication with content creators, partners, influencers, and events
  • Assisting in SEO-related tasks such as backlink reachout, improving article copy and meta tag optimization, and keyword research.

What we’re looking for

  • Must currently be enrolled as a student
  • Educational background or working experience in marketing, communications, or business
  • A good copywriter with social media management experience
  • Experience in organizing and coordinating events
  • A passion for improving accessibility to PrEP and the quality of healthcare for the LGBTQ2S+ community.
  • An understanding of TikTok trends, pop & meme culture, and the nuances found within the queer community
  • Ability to research unfamiliar topics and write from a sex-positive and harm reduction perspective

Bonus:

  • Experience with Google Analytics, Hubspot, or Canva
  • Strong content management skills as it relates to editing, publishing, and optimizing for SEO
