The incumbent will have a balanced mandate of both modelling and technical support accountabilities. Responsibilities to include supporting the enhancement of Moody’s AXIS models, assisting in the modelling of mortality projections, and helping to build and test an experience studies system.Principal AccountabilitiesMoody’s AXIS Modeling

  • Update and maintain AXIS models with assumption changes and model enhancements
  • Assist in building new models for the purpose of Pricing, Cashflow Testing, or Inforce Production

Experience Analysis

  • Data analysis for historical lapse studies
  • Data analysis for historical mortality studies
  • Projection of historical mortality to estimate future mortality improvement (bilinear regression modeling)

Data Quality Review

  • Reconciliation and evaluation of data within databases
  • Coordinate with external systems to integrate outputs/inputs of AXIS with databases

Potential Ad Hoc Requests:

  • Automation of tasks within Excel and other statistical/data manipulations tasks not mentioned
  • Assist with various group reinsurance projects.

Position RequirementsEducation

  • Enrolled in an accredited Actuarial Science or similar program with actuarial exam experience
  • Completion of at least three years is preferred
  • Completion of at least two SOA exams preferred

Knowledge

  • Understanding of Insurance Products
  • Understanding of Reinsurance would be an asset
  • Understanding of Life Contingencies is an asset
  • Understanding of Linear Regression is an asset
  • High-level knowledge of insurance, reinsurance or life contingencies is preferred

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • A self-starter with strong collaboration skills who can work over MS teams and other remote technology effectively
  • Proficient in MS-Office tools, especially MS-Excel
  • Experience with Moody’s AXIS preferred
  • Experience in either R, Python or other mathematical/statistical programming languages would be an asset

Previous Experience

  • Previous co-op or summer work term(s) preferred
