We currently have Actuarial and Data Science Co-op/Intern opportunities available in our Mississauga, Calgary and Toronto * offices for the Winter, January to April 2025 term. (Seats are available in all offices and we will try to accommodate preferences where possible. Please be prepared to discuss the preferred location.) More specifically, you will be required to:Actuarial internshipProvide support to the Property and Casualty Actuarial Department including assisting in rate analysis, cost benefit analysis, research and modelling, reserving, and other analysis supporting key business partners such as marketing, business development, claims, underwriting etcAssist with the management of the actuarial databasesAssist with the regular production of internal reports on product/market results, auto and property quote success rates, market position, renewal/lapse experience, and net profit margin.Each student will be responsible for working on one or more projects independentlyData ScienceProvide support to the Property and Casualty Actuarial Department including assisting in actuarial modelling.Assist with the management of the actuarial databases.Assist with the regular production of internal reports on product/market results, auto and property quote success rates, market position, renewal/lapse experience, and net profit margin.Assist with the automation of ratemaking analysis and procedures.Each student will be responsible for working on one or more projects independently.What you bring to the tablePursuing a bachelor’s degree in either Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Data SciencePlease note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be consideredExperience coding in R/Python outside of the classroom ( Examples of this include work experience, independent coding projects, external coding courses, etc.)- Data Science specificsWhile not necessary, experience with machine learning/Bayesian models as well as knowledge regarding the insurance industry – Data Science specificsKnowledge of Property and Casualty insuranceKnowledge of MS Office Software (Excel, Word, Access)Knowledge of SASYour talent is what moves us forward!
