Job description: The DGC’s Digital Communications Officer will help coordinate the distribution of the Guild’s communications across multiple platforms including media releases, print & branded materials, email, social media, microsites, and the main DGC website. The successful candidate will also assist in producing key reports for our membership including vital analytics on the state of our industry. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the position is an excellent opportunity for an emerging communications professional to a step in their career – forging connections with stakeholders and taking responsibility for disseminating the Guild’s message, image and voice in all aspects of the organization’s media presence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct compilation and crosstabulation of data and other inputs for key reports for dissemination to DGC Members such as the DGC Annual Report and our annual report of the DGC Census;
  • Working with the Senior Communications Specialist, create and post digital content (written & visual) to engage Guild members, industry stakeholders and the public-at-large as well as updating DGC websites including DGC.ca using a custom CMS and loading content for bulk email distribution to DGC Members;
  • Manage all ordering and forwarding of all invoices for the communications department including large scale ordering for print materials for communications campaigns;
  • Build and maintain media lists and update key contact data for industry stakeholders;
  • Process nomination submission for the Guild’s signature annual event – the DGC Awards Gala – highlighting the extraordinary accomplishments of Guild members each year including process incoming submissions and assist in managing the event;
  • Assist in promotion, registration & social media for 1-2 screenings or networking events held monthly by the Guild’s National Directors Division.

Requirements: Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or college diploma, ideally in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, film and television production, data science or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • One to three years’ experience in communications, marketing, media relations or a related field, preferably within the arts & entertainment industry, or with labour, non-profit or other member-driven organizations;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including the use of formulas, duplicate elimination and record matching (knowledge of macros is an asset);
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and web-based Content Management Systems;
  • Familiarity with for platform marketing & SEO, HootSuite, Google Analytics, Photoshop, Illusrator, Microsoft Office;
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently, driving both initial concept and execution of internal and external communications under supervision and guidance;
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills;
  • French and English bilingualism is an asset;
  • Experience in event planning and promotion is an asset.

Additional Info: Currently, the office is enjoying a hybrid work arrangement, however, there may be a future requirement for this position to be fully onsite. In alignment with the organization’s Vaccine Policy, all employees must be fully vaccinated.

Expected salary: $40000 – 45000 per year
