Role Overview

The Digital Marketing Specialist reports to the Director, Integrated Digital Marketing and plays a vital role in operationalizing Diabetes Canada’s digital marketing campaigns. The role assists in the planning, execution, maintenance and measurement our paid and organic digital marketing activities to support brand, mission and fundraising. A large focus of this role will be on Diabetes Canada’s social media accounts, helping to shape our accounts into a place for connection and knowledge for people affected by diabetes. This role is the day-to-day lead for the national social media accounts, managing the content calendar, creating and publishing content, responding to an engaging with the community, supporting live events and building and executing paid social campaigns.

This role includes, but not limited to:

  • Participate in the planning, developing, building, testing and implementation of digital marketing campaigns across Diabetes Canada’s digital channels
  • Manage the national social media content calendar, ensuring social accounts are used in alignment with best practices while supporting Diabetes Canada’s goals
  • Copy writing, content creation and scheduling/publishing for Diabetes Canada’s national social media accounts
  • Ensure the brand voice is clear and consistent on social media
  • Community manager for Diabetes Canada national social media accounts, moderating and engaging with community members in accordance with policies and response frameworks
  • Lead for live social media events, providing support and technical assistance to ensure live events run smoothly
  • Build, deploy evaluate and optimize paid social media campaigns across Facebook/Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Using Photoshop and/or Canva, create graphics to accompany social media content
  • Monitor, measure and report on digital marketing performance to help optimize campaigns and evaluate performance
  • Be a consultant for internal stakeholders on best practices for digital marketing success
  • In conjunction with IT, manage the national email calendar following agreed upon strategies and processes, while providing recommendations for consolidation, scheduling and segmentation
  • Provide support for updating and publishing content on diabetes.ca using Kentico CMS

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • 3+ years digital marketing experience including web, social media and email
  • Technical knowledge and experience with digital marketing technologies for managing social media, web and email (Kentico CMS, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Facebook Business Manager)
  • Experience building, deploying and optimizing paid social media campaigns using native social ads tools (Twitter Ads Manager, Facebook Business Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager)
  • Experience with graphic design and graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Familiar with digital analytics technologies; ability to pull and interpret data to continue to optimize campaigns
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design skills
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and work together cross-functionally to solve problems – a real team player

Location: The office is located at 522 University Ave, Toronto, ON. There is a return to office plan recently implemented. A Flexible Work Arrangement Policy is in place which will allow for a hybrid work schedule, for this role there will be some remote and some in-office work will be required.
