Job description: Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The Director, Thought Leadership, Commercial Banking will contribute to the overall success of RBC’s Thought Leadership and Commercial Banking teams by delivering on strategic ambitions to strengthen our commercial banking business and support RBC commercial clients in growing their businesses and navigating complex macroenvironments.This dynamic role involves creating value and driving long-term success for RBC by building and leading programs aligned with commercial banking and RBC enterprise priorities including geopolitics & trade, disruptive technology (AI adoption, clean tech), supply chain, automotive, agriculture and climate.The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking leader with strong experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships, driving cross-functional collaborations, and executing high-impact, transformational projects. They have a passion for tackling business problems and an interest in the key issues and policies that shape our economy.What will you do?

  • Develop and execute program strategy and programs and execute plans for Thought Leadership within Commercial Banking across sectors and issues
  • Identify research topics in alignment with program strategies and work with researchers to conduct analysis and shape narratives.
  • Build and manage partnerships and engagement with key clients, academic institutions, think tanks, and industry groups to enhance our capabilities.
  • Market and amplify research and insights with compelling messaging, effective marketing campaigns, creative events, and meaningful audience experiences.
  • Identify new ways to grow, engage, and create value for commercial banking clients and audiences, including potential new channels, research offerings, and programs.
  • Work effectively across the RBC Thought Leadership and Commercial Banking teams, plus other relevant internal RBC stakeholders, to translate enterprise objectives into business line initiatives.
  • Foster an effective and collaborative work culture with dynamic, high-performing teams helping businesses achieve prosperity and shaping the future of Canada.
  • Set goals, create operating models, develop action and stakeholder engagement plans, consult relevant teams, execute on deliverables, measure and report on impact, update progress with executives.

What do you need to succeed?Must-have

  • ~10 years in business strategy development, management consulting, program management or related areas.
  • Strategic and innovative thinker with a passion for driving prosperity and tackling Canada’s most pressing challenges.
  • Exceptional ability to lead major programs with a proactive, “get it done” mindset.
  • Exceptional ability to drive work forward across multiple internal teams and seek alignment across key priorities with diplomacy, professionalism, and positivity.
  • Strong ability to prioritize competing requests and effectively allocate resources while consistently meeting high standards of quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity, ability to embrace change, and be highly adaptable.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to confidently influence and provide strategic guidance to senior leaders.

  • Previous experience in a large, global leading Financial Institution or consulting firm
  • Digital and social media savvy, with a strong grasp on the evolving digital media landscape
