Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Content Assistant, is responsible for supporting the creation and management of visual content to support meaningful community engagement.

REQUIREMENTS

  • As per Canada Summer Jobs, these are mandatory requirements
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and other applications for content creation and editing.
  • Apply film knowledge and understanding of cameras for effective content production.
  • Edit video content using desktop applications.
  • Prioritize video editing tasks to meet project requirements.
  • Develop and organize a comprehensive video archive and visual content library.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Director, Marketing and Communications, and Digital Marketing Specialist.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Director, Dixon Hall staff, volunteers, and partners.
  • Execute tasks in an efficient and client-focused manner to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings and events.
  • Engage in regular meetings with the Director and other staff to discuss individual and team effectiveness.
  • Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and the Mission, Vision, and Values of Dixon Hall.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, post-secondary education in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or another related program.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly in Premiere Pro.
  • Familiarity with filming techniques and camera operation.
  • Proficiency in desktop and web-based applications for content creation.
  • Adept at managing and organizing video archives and visual content libraries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher) and database management.
  • Second language proficiency is an asset.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
  • Must have up-to-date vaccinations against COVID-19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
