Job description: Story Behind the Need

  • Project: To support the project delivery of Bill 64 Marketing Opt Out, as well as other BAU work within the MicroServices Business Architecture team.

Typical Day in Role:

  • Hybrid responsibility of a Technical Product Owner / Business System Analyst and an E2E Delivery Lead
  • Working on enhancement to applications – on front end, microapps – and a vendor application of book of record for marketing preferences, campaign related flows, customer targeting apps
  • May be picking up some investment related project
  • Coordinating between different teams – application teams, campaign systems, microservices
  • Will need to do some status reporting to senior leadership, progress checking
  • Need a dedicated resource who can take on both technical product owner/ BSA / delivery role / project manager responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Senior Development Managers to align project timelines and forecast team capacity
  • Prioritize backlogs items from various sources (Product, Engineering, Support); Ensure there is a balance between project delivery and non-project driven priorities
  • Analyze and develop technical requirements based on solution documentation
  • Ensure integrity of the business and technical requirements in the end-to-end customer journey
  • Drive joint application design solutioning sessions with our architecture, development, and security architecture teams that inform high-level estimates for large and medium-sized incoming initiatives
  • Facilitate requirements gathering and design sessions with multiple stakeholders to extract
  • requirements, and turn them into use cases, user stories, sequence diagrams, etc. to meet
  • development and stakeholder needs
  • Create, refine and maintain the product backlog and associated deliverables; release backlog with forecasted delivery timelines
  • Bridge the gap between business and IT, ensuring common understanding and IT/Business
  • alignment of both functional (for business needs) and non-functional requirements (such as
  • reporting, performance, interfaces, and constraints.)
  • Help improve and drive our engineering practices by providing valuable inputs and suggestions as to what works well and what can be done better

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

  • 8+ years of relevant IT experience
  • 5+ years’ experience as IT Product Owner and/or Business System Analyst
  • Experience of coordinating multiple teams, fostering collaboration among the teams, and driving results
  • Experience with system integrations
  • Experience with front-end customer facing applications and/or mobile apps

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experiences from an ecosystem /organization with similar complexity
  • Has both technical and non-technical backgrounds (e.g. Developer + BSA / Product Manager / Project Manager)
  • Campaign management/delivery experiences
  • Investment project experience
  • Experience with APIs

Soft Skills Required:

  • Strong communication skills to be able to work with senior leadership
  • Being able to communicate effectively and concisely.
  • Has a willingness to learn attitude

Education:

  • Bachelors in technical field

Best VS. Average Candidate:

  • Candidates from all industries will be considered as long as the experiences is in an ecosystem with similar complexity
  • Banking experiences is NOT a must have, though experience from digital banking would be an asset
  • If they have experience doing digital banking (even personally) will be good so they have a basic understanding
  • Experience of working with senior leadership – not just a PMO
  • Need to understand the technical aspects and hands on support the team
  • Both technical and non-technical backgrounds (e.g. Developer + BSA / Product Manager / Project Manager) will be good to have
  • Right attitude and mindset of wanting to learn new things

Candidate Review & Selection

  • 1 round – In person preferred at 333 King Street East (Wednesdays) – 1 hour – with HM and 1-2 team members
  • There is a case study presented in the interview – scenario based – to be solved in the interview
  • Potential 2nd if needed to decide between candidates
