Job description: Job Description:Wood is currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Oil & Gas Canada business team in Sarnia, ON.Our projects team has a long history of delivering some of the biggest and most complex projects in the Canadian oilsands, along with associated pipelines and refinery infrastructure.   • Preparation of detailed engineering designs for steel and concrete structures
  • Perform structural analysis using SAP2000, Excel, MathCAD and other engineering tools
  • Prepare calculation reports to support analysis and design
  • Interact with multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and work to discipline specific procedures.
  • Actively progress through the requirements to achieve Professional Engineer status in the relevant province (ex: PEO)
  • Showing an enthusiasm to learn.
  • Executing assigned personal objectives.
  • Executing assigned work tasks.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate across the project / client interfaces.
  • Engage with inter-discipline community.
  • Establishing an awareness of external stakeholders including: industry bodies, academia, vendors, client interface (as appropriate and requested).

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate with a BSc, BEng in Civil Engineering, with eligibility to be registered with PEO as an EIT
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada at time of application.
  • Superior analytical, problem solving, and investigation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in EPCM with industrial projects in Canada or the United States is an asset
  • Candidates who have passed the FE administered by NCEES-approved centers is desirable
  • Intellectually capable, demonstrates the application of theory in a practical context.
  • Professional demeanor, interpersonal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a level of team working skills.
  • Problem solver that is curious in their approach with the capacity to grow and develop.
  • Confidence to ask questions, seek help, make decisions and challenge the norm.

  • Progressively demonstrates an increasing level of competence in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution.
  • Previous work experience in the oil and gas industry, including internship is considered an asset, preferably with an EPC.
