As Manager of Marketing & Communications, you will embody and reflect YSM’s core values of Transformation, Collaboration, Innovation, Accountability, Communication and Celebration and help bring these to life among our staff and for our donors through storytelling, brand building, message integration and more.
Our ideal candidate is a hands-on, experienced professional with a can-do attitude who understands the importance of brand consistency and translating strategy into marketing communications, measurement and management. To succeed in this role, the selected candidate will have a notable blend of technical and relationship building skills, marketing knowledge and capabilities coupled with project and time management proficiency. At their core, applicants will have a strong interest in social service and YSM’s mission to eradicate chronic poverty in Toronto within one generation.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Marketing, YSM is seeking a full time Manager, Marketing & Communications to manage strategy, creative development and execution, distribution and deployment of print and digital materials to support YSM’s fundraising, program positioning, donor relations and stewardship endeavours, all in alignment with YSM’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute an annual Marketing and Communications plan in close collaboration with the Director of Development and Marketing and key members of the Annual Giving and Philanthropy teams.
- Develop internal relationships to increase access to stories and impact information, and conduct staff, volunteer and community member interviews, synthesize the resulting information to create various versions of impact reporting and content for YSM’s website, annual report, newsletters, campaign materials, case documents, donor stewardship emails, and staff / donor presentations.
- Manage the drafting and creative development of high quality print and digital communications in support of fundraising and brand initiatives, facilitating approvals from stakeholders and project managing production and fulfillment processes.
- Create and maintain effective monitoring, measurement and analysis to continuously better results of marketing initiatives and evolve communications for improved efficiency and impact, while remaining within budget allocations.
- Serve as YSM’s brand champion by providing up to date marketing resources for staff to use when developing externally focused materials, so as to properly reflect brand guidelines and messaging parameters; proactively engage departments to provide brand training and support for those marketing programs and events to the public.
- Meaningfully support YSM’s fundraising efforts by managing communications and contact with the 2,800 members of our monthly donor club, known as Possibility Partners.
- Manage the content and technical aspects of the YSM website, including ongoing website development and traffic tracking through Google Analytics and Falcon, and directing third party partners towards improving donor experience, site usability and donations and traffic tracking.
- Provide strategic marketing support and advice to communications, special projects, events happening across YSM, to ensure marketing integration and consistency of messaging and branding.
- Develop and deploy broadcast email messages and appeals through Luminate Online, using established templates, ensuring proper execution of related donation pages and associated performance tracking.
- Contribute to our media relations building efforts, by performing outreach to media as warranted, and contributing to our responses to media inquiries and requests.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have the following skills and training:
- Demonstrated commitment to YSM’s Articles of Faith, principles of mission and values
- A minimum of 4 or more years working experience in a related role, ideally in not-for-profit environment(s)
- University degree or college diploma in Marketing and/or Communications, humanities or related fields of study
- Superlative written and oral communication skills
- Strong project management skills, coupled with proven problem solving ability
- Ability to reprioritize in a fast-paced service-oriented environment with multiple competing priorities
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite
- Deep relational focus with empathy and compassion towards others, from all walks of life
- Working experience with Luminate Online or similar broadcast email systems is an asset
- A police check will be required
