Job description: Application Security Engineer – AI/ML (Remote)
Contract | Remote | AI/ML SecurityA leading security consulting firm is seeking a Application Security Engineer with AI/ML expertise to conduct threat modeling and secure design reviews of machine learning systems. This role is ideal for someone passionate about building safe, resilient AI architectures while working closely with both engineering and governance teams.What You’ll Do

• Lead threat modeling workshops and perform architecture reviews for AI/ML/LLM systems.
• Analyze the entire ML lifecycle — from data ingestion and preprocessing to training, inference, and deployment.
• Identify AI-specific risks such as adversarial input , data leakage , and model misuse .
• Map attack surfaces using frameworks like MITRE ATLAS , STRIDE , or similar.
• Collaborate with AI governance and engineering teams to guide secure integration and deployment of models.
• Create detailed documentation, including threat diagrams, risk analyses , and remediation plans .

What You Bring

• 3+ years of experience in threat modeling , secure architecture , or security design reviews .
• Strong knowledge of machine learning workflows , LLMs , and cloud-native AI infrastructure .
• Understanding of data protection strategies , privacy risks (e.g., re-identification, leakage), and mitigation approaches.
• Experience designing within secure cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts through clear documentation and system diagrams .

Bonus Points For

• Practical experience in privacy-preserving machine learning (e.g., federated learning, differential privacy).
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and compliance standards for responsible AI deployment.
• Exposure to red teaming or adversarial testing of ML systems.
