Job description: We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Bookkeeper in Peterborough, Ontario. Our industry is in engineering manufacturing where you will have the chance to partner with companies to design and create solutions to their production issues. This role will require a balance of in-office and remote work, with initial training days in the office and the potential for remote work once fully acclimated.Responsibilities:

• Oversee customer credit applications processing with precision and efficiency
• Maintain and update customer credit records regularly
• Resolve customer inquiries promptly and professionally
• Monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary
• Handle general ledger reconciliations
• Manage bank and credit card reconciliations
• Collect and prepare information for year-end accounting
• Accurately record transactions in Sage 50
• Oversee accounts payable invoice entries
• Manage accounts receivable invoicing
• Assist with cash flow management and forecasting
• Contribute to payroll processing, ensuring understanding of accounting for payroll
• Work with multiple company credit cards for online purchasing and auto payments
• Handle progress billing for projects, ensuring all transactions are correctly coded and tracked against job numbers.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a bookkeeping role

• Proficient in account reconciliation and data entry

• Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

• Skilled in performing bank reconciliations

• Demonstrated expertise in bookkeeping practices

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with month end close procedures

• Knowledge of payroll processes

• Familiarity with Sage 50 is preferred for this role
