Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Social Worker to join our team in Sydney. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing social work services to children and adults with special needs, including those with physical, mental, or behavioral challenges. This position will involve assessing clients’ needs, developing and implementing care plans, and providing counseling and support to clients and their families. The Special Needs Social Worker will also work closely with other healthcare professionals and community organizations to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with special needs and be able to advocate for their rights and access to resources.
Key Responsibilities:
– Assess and evaluate the psychosocial needs of clients with special needs
– Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with clients and their families
– Provide counseling and support to clients and their families
– Coordinate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community organizations
– Advocate for the rights and access to resources for clients with special needs
– Document client interactions, progress, and outcomes according to professional standards
– Stay up to date with best practices and evidence-based interventions in the field of special needs social work
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or related field
– Current registration as a social worker
– Experience working with individuals with special needs
– Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills
– Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
– Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to special needs services
