What you’ll doPosition Title: SAP iXp Intern – Cloud Database Engine Developer
Location: Waterloo, ON
Internship Duration: 4 months starting May 2024

  • Contribute to the design of new database/query processing features
  • Prototype new features using a variety of languages and tools
  • Write automated tests for your features
  • Benchmark features to quantify performance improvements

  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Overall average of at least 80%
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

The following are not required but would be valuable:

  • Knowledge of Go or Scala
  • Knowledge of Spark or Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts
  • Work experience at a software development company

Meet your teamCome join our team. We are responsible for developing cloud-focused database and data analytics functionality that underlies many SAP products. Our focus is on optimizing database performance and our main product is SAP HANA, our flagship, in-memory, database technology. Our team consists primarily of masters or PhD level database researchers and software developers. We have a special passion for mentoring students, sharing our knowledge with them and helping them develop new skills.We are looking for exceptional students to prototype several features designed to improve cloud performance in SAP HANA. Possible work areas include optimal usage of (cloud-based) object storage, enhancing the Spark engine with new features to improve performance and applying AI to improve query processing performance.Depending on your project you may use a variety of languages and tools. We expect Python to be a key development language, but you may also use Scala, Go or other languages. Knowledge of cloud technologies including Kubernetes would be a strong asset as would knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.Join us. Salary: $45,000 – $50,000 per year

We are currently seeking an HR Administrator to join our team in Toronto. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to the HR department and assisting with various HR tasks and projects.
