The incumbent will lead the sales and partnerships teams to optimize Canadian Banking, Wealth and digital distribution channels, working closely with internal iTRADE teams and other key Scotiabank partners to align to the business’ strategic priorities. In short, the incumbent is responsible for a) developing and executing on client acquisition and partnership initiatives; and b) ensuring the business is well positioned to achieve or exceed its business growth objectives with accountability for revenue generation.The Director will report directly to the Managing Director, Scotia iTRADE.AccountabilitiesStrategy and Partnerships:

  • Develops the overarching sales acquisition strategy and implements revenue-focused initiatives across all channels aligned to Scotia iTRADE’s overall strategic priorities
  • Identifies business solutions, opportunities and ideas that leverage digital product, sales, and marketing
  • capabilities of the enterprise to drive innovation and leadership in the direct investing sector
  • Develops and maintains strong internal and external partner relationships across Scotiabank to positively influence opportunities for cross-business partnerships to enhance the client experience and drive business growth
  • Develops external strategic relationships to forge strong presence in the industry and identifies possible opportunities to expand growth for SiT
  • Leads the engagement of key decision makers across the Bank to develop strong relationships and
  • educate/promote SiT’s offering
  • Works in close collaboration with the Director, Product Strategy and Wealth Marketing teams to develop client acquisition and engagement strategies and go-to-market programs, including the development of cross business client programs and offers across all stages of the client lifecycle that are designed to drive revenue growth
  • Leverages analytics to identify risks/opportunities within SiT client base; working closely with Wealth Analytics and Global Brand and Customer Insights teams
  • Owns and manages the client communication platform and experience, working closely with the iTRADE
  • Product Strategy and Wealth Marketing teams; leveraging the client marketing tool to execute on acquisition and engagement communication tactics

Team Leadership and Sales Management:

  • Provides strategic guidance and leadership to a team of Business Development and Partnerships Managers to help build and maintain strong internal partner relationships to develop and sustain a two-way referral pipeline
  • Ensures the Sales & Partnerships team meets annual acquisition channel targets, holding the Manager,Sales & Partnership Services and Senior Managers, Sales and Partnerships accountable for the achievement of sales and referral goals and sustained levels of high performance and call quality
  • Works in partnership with Scotia iTRADE internal teams and key Scotiabank partners to deliver strategic initiatives on time and on budget
  • Prudent expense management of team budgets, constantly looking for expense optimization opportunities
  • Identifies opportunities to improve the business’ Net Promoter Score (NPS), a key driver of client satisfaction as well as other key metrics against industry benchmarks
  • Minimizes risk and losses by knowing and adhering to Scotiabank and Online Brokerage (OLB) policies, procedures and key controls
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and
  • decisions
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ year’s supervisory and senior management experience working in the financial services industry, with preference of retail online brokerage background
  • Previous experience with sales and digital marketing an asset
  • Proven ability to drive revenue generation
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory environments applicable to the investment management industry
  • Strong knowledge of the technological platforms underlying the online brokerage industry and how they support the delivery, distribution and client experience
  • Strong knowledge of the domestic online brokerage industry including products, markets and risk
  • management practices
  • Requires strong leadership skills with experience leading teams in a dynamic environment
  • Must be highly motivated and able to influence and motivate others
  • Superior independent problem-solving skills and sound judgment
  • Requires ability to work collaboratively within and across business units in order to achieve results
