The Supervisor, Communications & Campaigns role is a full-time opportunity, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Communications and Stakeholder Relations. The Supervisor, Communications & Campaigns will be accountable for the planning and implementation of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Canada’s external and internal communication campaign strategies and program execution, with a focus on increasing RMHC’s brand awareness, understanding, relevance, and revenue. This position is based in Toronto.Principal Accountabilities
In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Communications Campaigns and Programs:
- Lead the development and execution of RMHC strategic communications campaigns from start-to-finish, including briefing and managing external agency partners across a wide range of communications functions and stakeholder groups including (but not limited to): Canadians, internal employees, donors partners, and healthcare partners
- Partner with largest donor partner, McDonald’s Canada across multiple departments, on unique communications and influencer program executions and key fundraising initiatives (i.e. McHappy Day)
- Build trusted relationships and identify opportunities for proactive development of national communications campaigns to help amplify and build education of the RMHC mission
- Execute partnerships within Canada’s pediatric healthcare landscape (ie. health organizations and publications) across Canada, and in partnership with the Senior Manager, explore opportunities to communicate and collaborate with a healthcare audience (hospital partners, healthcare publications)
Internal & External Communications:
- Responsible for executing earned media opportunities on behalf of the national organization, including pitch ideation, outreach and interview management
- Develop the strategy and development of RMHC’s storytelling calendar via earned, paid, and owned media channels throughout the year to promote the mission across Canada
- Lead and/or support a wide range of communication tactics that build engagement, community and support via channels such as: annual reports, speeches, key messages, press releases and pitch development, website posting, e-marketing, social networking.
- Oversee and own ongoing media monitoring responsibilities, and results tracking of programs with responsibility to update key stakeholders on a quarterly basis including RMHC Canada leadership, Board of Directors, McDonald’s Canada, etc.
- Communicate, share, promote and protect the RMHC mission with key stakeholder audiences and RMHC Canada’s primary partners – McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada, National Mission Partners, healthcare partners, etc.
- Act as an internal content expert by drafting and reviewing RMHC communications content on behalf of RMHC Canada and McDonald’s Canada internal teams, and determine how RMHC Canada updates are communicated internally across the McDonald’s Canada system
- Partner with RMHC Regional Chapters across Canada to enhance storytelling and advise on regional communications content, as needed
- Identify, collect, and develop compelling RMHC Mission stories for distribution across internal channels on a frequent and consistent basis
- Support the Director of Integrated Brand, and Senior Communications Manager with media monitoring and crisis communications support, as needed
Social Media & Influencer Strategy:
- Create, identify and foster relationships with social media influencers across the country and negotiate opportunities on behalf of RMHC Canada in promotion of brand initiatives, and donor partner programs
- Partner with communications agency to foster relationships with social media influencers throughout the year, determining key content opportunities to amplify mission messaging
- Partner with RMHC Canada Marketing team to integrate social influencer content into overall editorial calendar strategy, advising on key topics to amplify throughout the year
Qualifications
- Proven communications experience in a relevant role; agency, corporate, healthcare and/or non-profit communications experience is an asset
- Dedicated self-starter who can work independently and virtually within a peer-based team setting
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and thorough understanding of how to communicate to multiple stakeholder audiences
- Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and tools, including the ability to understand and leverage analytics to identify trends, set goals and report on digital and social performance
- Keen sense of emerging external trends across all facets of earned, owned and social media
- Proven ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment and lead/support multiple high priority projects with senior stakeholders, including agency partners
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and proven ability to work with multi-disciplined teams
- Well organized, resourceful, with excellent multi-tasking and prioritizing skills and the ability to work within tight deadlines while still maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to navigate, orchestrate, and work through complex issues across multiple stakeholders with a strategic and tactical perspective
