Job description: Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Manager/Sr. Manager of Accounting/Finance Operations – this is a fully remote role open to candidates in US/Canada.We are a fast-growing software company committed to supporting, developing and servicing Hedera, an open source, proof-of-stake platform. Hedera’s public network is governed by industry-leading organizations, spanning 11 sectors and 14 regions who oversee the development and direction of the decentralized platform.About the role:As a key Finance operational team member, this individual will be responsible for leading the global accounting and finance operations activities of the Company. The ideal candidate is someone who inspires a high-performing accounting team, but can also embrace ambiguity and loves solving problems. The candidate will possess a solid knowledge of US GAAP principles, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and financial operations. The candidate will also possess strong management and team leadership competencies gained through prior experience managing a corporate accounting department within a large, complex global organization. You will play a critical role in ensuring we continue building a world-class accounting function while partnering across the business to ensure our systems and processes are running smoothly. Our goal is to be scalable as we push towards global best-in-class operations.You may find yourself doing all of the following:Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and local statutory reporting requirements to ensure accuracy and completenessManage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparing and reviewing monthly close ledger entries and reconciliationsResearch technical accounting matters such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), software development cost (ASC 350), share-based compensation (ASC 718) recording and implementing new accounting guidanceReview intercompany invoicing, reconciliations, and consolidation, and gain/ loss on sale of crypto entriesCollaborate with FP&A on financial analysis, budgeting, and forecastingManage state, federal tax filings, and corporate reporting (in coordination with external tax firms)Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organizationLead the delivery of accounting tasks and projectsEnd-to-end process ownership to support various internal business partners, such as Engineering, Marketing, IT/ Security, resolve issues, and answer questionsAssess the effectiveness of controls in their area and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activitiesCollaborate on leading strategic partnerships and vendor relationshipsAssist with ad hoc requests and projects, such as system automation, process improvements, and researching accounting topicsAssist with treasury functions, including cash flow forecastingQualification Requirements:5+ years of accounting experienceWorking knowledge of accounting principles and standards (e.g., US GAAP)Experience leading a team, and in identifying process improvements and efficienciesIntermediate to advanced Excel skills (can perform complex functions), and experience using Sage or NetSuiteStrong sense of ownershipOther skills that are great to bring with you but that we can help you develop:Public accounting experience and CPADetail-oriented, as you will work with an immense set of data with various accounting treatmentsA critical thinker with the ability to understand issues, proactively resolve problems, and identify process improvements and efficienciesDriven and can work independently with general guidance, and have the ability to meet timelines for different projectsA standout colleague who is willing to chip in beyond the defined role to meet business needs as circumstances requireCompensation & PackageEquity & TokensPerformance BonusesHealth insurance & 401k for US employees only.
