As a result, we are continuously licensing and/or acquiring new products and solutions aimed at addressing the essential needs of consumers, patients, and healthcare partners.Role OverviewThe Area Manager, Specialty & Rare Disease will be responsible for achieving territory sales objectives through effective stakeholder management and strategic planning. Navigating the hospital setting with a key account approach, collaborating with various stakeholders and departments to ensure the successful implementation of our products and services.Territory: OntarioKey Responsibilities

  • Achieve territory sales objectives by effectively managing external stakeholders (specialists, specialized/hospital pharmacy) and internal stakeholders (marketing, finance, commercial operations).
  • Navigate the hospital setting with a key account approach, collaborating with different stakeholders and departments such as neurosurgery, operating room, hospital pharmacy, BioMed, accounting and nursing care
  • Work with stakeholders to prepare the hospital by addressing equipment needs, drug funding, and overall management within the facility.
  • Develop and execute the territory business plan, including medical education initiatives.
  • Optimize territory budgets to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with Key Specialists, Hospital and Specialized Pharmacists, and Nurse Practitioners.
  • Have an excellent understanding of the therapeutic areas and clinical information to discuss and differentiate benefits for Healthcare Professionals and patients.
  • Develop speakers, Key Opinion Leaders and work with Teaching Hospitals Medical staff.
  • Consistently deliver the marketing message in a clear and concise manner to designated customers in various settings.
  • Coordinate with other Area Managers and collaborate with team members to share best practices and drive overall success.
  • Identify new business opportunities and gather competitive market intelligence to maximize growth.
  • Complete administrative duties such as expense reporting, call reporting, drug adverse-events and safety reporting, updating target lists, and maintaining institution profiles.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

  • University degree in sciences and 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical hospital sales, with a key management approach.
  • Strong Medical knowledge abilities.
  • Ability to attend national/international conferences.
  • Established Ontario-area hospital networking is an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of hospital processes for new drugs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • Compensation range: 110-140K
  • Eligible for sales Incentive Compensation plan
  • Travel or other requirements: Full-time remote position requiring frequent travel within the assigned territory.

  • Manage sales and investments to grow brand, its notoriety, number of prescriber and market share
  • Actively promote designated pharmaceutical products to specialists, primary care doctors, nurses and pharmacists in your territory (increase product awareness, sales, and product endorsements)
  • Execute an effective call plan that adds value to the physician’s practice
  • Leverage reporting tools provided to maximize your performance
  • Achieve/surpass territory goals and/or corporate objective
  • Develop a deep understanding of the features, benefits, and therapeutic applications of the products you represent. Including staying up to date with the latest medical research and clinical data.
  • Be customer centric, develop symbiotic and collaborate professional relationships with clients
  • Follow-up on calls, meetings and congresses to expand your success
  • Leverage quarterly/national and other ad hoc internal meeting/events to enhance skills, bring value and learn from other colleagues to succeed in your personal and company goals
  • Remain in compliance with Drivers Safety Guidelines, your personal automobile insurance coverage requirement and personal and company mileage logbook
  • Leverage flexibility of working as an entrepreneur to grow self and company business
  • Completion of administrative duties. (Expense & call reporting, updating target lists, institution profiles)
  • Maintain and follow established guidelines on samples regulations and pharmacovigilance
  • Performance orientation, excellence, professionalism and accountability are key ingredients

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales
  • Strong Medical knowledge abilities
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly
  • Ability to attend national conferences & local events (CME/OLA/congress/L&L)
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Remarkable work ethic and self-disciplined
  • University degree in business, science, or relevant field
