VP, Product Marketing, Global Small Business Payments

Payments is one of the fastest growing businesses of J.P. Morgan Chase and is at the intersection of our cross-line of business strategy to serve small to medium sized businesses (SMBs). Our goal is to elevate our presence and grow share to be become the #1 payments provider in Canada. The Product Marketing Lead will play a pivotal role to achieve this goal by being the storyteller of our exciting new products and/or services. The incumbent will report to the Head of Global SMB Product Marketing with accountability to the Head of Marketing, Canada and will be integral to the achievement of aggressive growth goals for the business. The successful candidate will develop and execute marketing strategies to reinforce and elevate Chase’s position as a leading payments/financial services provider for small business owners. Success in the role will be tied to SMB growth; greater awareness, consideration and adoption of Chase payment solutions across target segments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the marketing launch of new products, features and benefits, managing the cross-functional go-to-market implementation, merchandising of Chase proprietary, direct to SMB solutions.
  • Enthusiastically guide channel marketers, the field teams (sales and relationship managers), servicing and cross-line of business partners on marketing strategy. Collaborate with the Commercialization team on go-to-market/launch planning and execution.
  • Partner closely with product, sales and commercialization to optimize the end-to-end client journey and product experience, including the translation of technical product features into customer-friendly communication strategies.
  • Partner with the Digital Marketing Lead and Website Lead to launch and optimize Product Detail Pages for SEO
  • Develop a differentiated client-centric value story for products and services for card payment solutions grounded in business owner needs and the unique benefits and capabilities of Chase. Ongoing refinement of the broader payments positioning and messaging framework for our target sub-segments
  • Ensure appropriate positioning and messaging used by field teams (Sales and Relationship Managers) as well as in direct marketing channels.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies and breakthrough marketing to merchandise our solutions through in-person, via partners and digital (owned and third-party) channels
  • Package and launch streamlined product bundles that deliver a cohesive suite of solutions from mobile readers and terminals to tablet point-of-sale (POS) and integrated payments within software to support small business owners as they grow
  • Drive marketing collaboration with ISVs for growth through card payment strategies
  • Be the expert in our clients and their needs, representing the voice of the customer to cross-functional teams, influencing product development and future roadmapping
  • Drive the market and competitive research agenda, partnering with research teams to deliver insights that shape the development of personas, refinement of customer segments, drivers of local purchasing behaviour and other elements that inform business opportunities, marketing strategies
  • Create toolkits and materials for sales and marketing, ensuring all are equipped to sell Merchant Services as a solution and specific product offerings
  • Guide channel marketers, the field teams (sales and relationship managers) servicing, and cross-line of business partners on product marketing strategy
  • Track and measure product / solutions marketing impact; tie back to business KPIs

Qualifications:

  • Robust product marketing experience — preferably in payments, FinTech or consumer technology
  • Strategic thinking skills, including proven track record delivering successful GTM strategies supporting new product launches
  • Experience developing segmentation, personas, and buying journeys that can formulate the right audience targeting for marketing strategies for net new products/solutions and product optimizations
  • Ability to launch new product/solutions via digital assets with breakthrough marketing for direct response sign-ups and/or client-facing stakeholders
  • Proven experience developing clear and compelling value propositions for physical products (e.g., hardware), software and services that clearly differentiate our offering and communicate superiority of our platform
  • Ability to leverage data analytics to think strategically (big picture) and connect the dots to individual tactics; desire to “roll up your sleeves” and own projects – including managing the details of project execution
  • Proven success navigating highly complex organizations to drive change by influencing product roadmaps and features suited for Canadian merchants
  • Partner co-marketing experience, partner engagement / management skills strongly desired
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills; excellent story-telling skills via deck writing
  • Ability to influence across and up the organization to drive prioritization of opportunities with partners and stakeholders
  • Strong emotional intelligence that drives respect and trust amongst peers and across functional teams
  • Highly curious with proven creative problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement to ease customer pain points; strong customer/client-centric focus as default lens
  • High energy, solutions-driven, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and work well under pressure and tight deadlines, while always defaulting to action
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude; must be comfortable managing through ambiguity, fluid business environment
  • Polished executive presence, track-record of flawless execution and delivering strong results
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 10+ years of relevant experience, MBA strongly preferred
