You will have a generalist background in broadcasting/streaming and be responsible for oversight of a large team of employees within news studios and resources. Your team supports content producers in News across the country. You will work closely with NEWS leadership to develop and implement operational strategies that enhance productivity, improve processes, and foster a positive work environmentYou will play a crucial role in creating an engaging, high-performing, and safe work environment for our employees and championing our culture. The role requires a balance between being an advocate for employees and aligning HR practices with the organization’s strategic objectives. This position will be key in executing our division’s future strategic requirements and must possess a collaborative and innovative mindset.You will recommend cost-effective time management solutions and implement reliable workflows in order to fulfill all the technical requirements of news production. You will constantly look for improvement with our teams and new processes. You will be expected to work unscheduled overtime when it is deemed necessary.Main responsibilities and impact:Support strategic planning and growth initiatives and advise cross-functional projects, such as newsroom, studio and control room technology upgrades and workflow automation.Collaborate with CBC news change management and continuous improvement teams to provide workflow and efficiency solutionsNavigate editorial requests and requirements, design workflows around special projects and mentor editing craftsIntroduce and implement departmental departmental best practices, workflows and proceduresConducting staff performance reviews, and providing support, counseling and motivation for career developmentRecruit, hire, and onboard new team membersManage and resolve conflictsManage staff readiness and succession planning, based on all available knowledge around impending assignments, new programming, and changing technology and softwareOversee team budget and forecastingProvide updates and progress reports to senior managementRelationship types:Leads and mentors direct team reportsCollaboration with Regional ManagersWorks in tandem with APS Supervisors and CMG SupervisorsLiaise with Editorial LeadershipWorking Conditions:Typical schedule: Monday to Friday 9-5Must be available after hours and on weekends to manage late-breaking News developmentsRemote work: On occasionTravel requirements: On occasionQualifications, Experience and Skills:Education:University degree or related experience.Experience (relevant to the role):4+ years of experience in a similar role.Knowledge and Skills:Strategic thinker and solution oriented change management leader.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a high level of influence and persuasion, to lead and manage a diverse group of creative individuals.Passion for following the latest in innovative technology.In-depth working knowledge of TV Production, Control rooms, INews and related production methods.Familiarity with file-based workflows.A genuine interest in News and Current Affairs.Strong organizational skills.Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse group of creative individuals in a Unionized environment.Skilled at communicating with vendors and clients with regard to purchasing, technical issues, and support.Familiarity with Television and Radio production systems, implementation of new technology, and ability to coordinate system upgrades.Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical ideas into a business context when presenting a rationale for improvements or changes.Strong attention to detail.The ability to speak French is considered an asset.Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the nextstep will be asked to complete a background check.
