Required Qualifications:

  • Regulated Rehab Health Profession with Master’s Degree in related area required.
  • Licensure and membership in good standing with a professional college.
  • Holds current academic appointment/eligible for academic appointment (with application to appointment within one year of hire)
  • Membership in a professional association (E.g. OSOT, CAOT, OPA, etc.).
  • 5 years progressive experience within a regulated health profession, with at least 2 years experience in a home/community OR 2 years experience in an acute care setting.
  • Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated ability to successfully lead or implement projects at a level of a unit/team or organization.
  • Strong understanding of the respective regulated health professions colleges, Regulated Health Professions Act, and other regulatory practice standards as it relates to health professions and unregulated care providers (UCPs).

This position plays an important role in maintaining and growing VHA’s brand through key activities including traditional media outreach and digital marketing efforts.This role will work collaboratively with the Communications team to build and execute meaningful and effective strategies and initiatives to support VHA’s key priorities. This involves content creation and storytelling and supporting the maintenance of VHA’s internal and external communication channels to engage VHA’s broad and diverse audiences to foster relationships across the VHA community, which includes team members, clients and families receiving VHA care, funders and partner organizations.The Communications Specialist is strategic in their approach to effective, timely and compelling communications for our target audiences, supporting VHA in leading the future of health and independence at home.Key Areas of Accountability:

  • Maintain and enhance VHA’s social media presence
  • Build and maintain relationships with key, targeted media contacts
  • Provide communications support and guidance for key initiatives across the organization in collaboration with communications team and leaders from various departments
  • contribute to the maintenance and management of VHA’s communication tools and channels
  • Support departments, committees and leaders in the writing of communication materials and stories to support high priority initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or related field.
  • Experience developing engaging social media content.
  • Public Relations or Government Relations experience.
  • Experience with digital marketing initiatives for a related sector including but not limited to healthcare, government or other nonprofit.
  • Copywriting experience.
  • Experience with communication and marketing tools such as Canva, WordPress, Campaign Monitor or other e-newsletter platforms, Google AdWords.
