Job description: Job Category: EngineeringJob Description:The Opportunity:The Track Lead will oversee the design, development, and implementation of railway track systems for major rail and transit projects. This role requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in track engineering, project management, and stakeholder coordination. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and sustainable rail infrastructure. In addition to leading the Track and Rail Discipline for the project, the role may include oversight of Overhead Wire Lines, Rail Containment and close collaboration with Signals Discipline Lead(s).Why choose WSP?

- Project Leadership: Manage and oversee railway track design and construction projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards and client requirements
- Technical Expertise: Provide guidance on track alignment, geometry, materials, and construction methodologies
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all track designs comply with local, provincial, and federal rail regulations
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with transit authorities, contractors, and engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to track design, construction, and maintenance
- Quality Assurance: Conduct technical reviews and inspections to ensure adherence to safety and performance standards
- Mentorship: Support and mentor junior engineers, fostering professional growth and development
- Business Development: Assist in proposal development, client presentations, and strategic initiatives to expand WSP’s rail and transit portfolio
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in railway track design and construction
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure in Ontario is preferred
- Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; proficiency in track design software (e.g., Bentley Rail Track, Civil 3D)
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of railway track design, construction, and maintenance
- Software Proficiency: Experience with track design tools such as Bentley Rail Track, Civil 3D, and GIS applications
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage complex rail projects and multidisciplinary teams
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting
