The successful candidate will join our risk assessment team that is part of our Site Evaluation and Restoration (SER) division. As a risk assessment specialist, you will be working as part of a team on a diverse range of human health and ecological risk assessment projects for brownfield sites across Canada. This role has the option to work remote plus travel to site as required.Role accountabilities:The risk assessment team completes risk assessments following federal guidance as well as in provinces across Canada. Direct experience in completing all aspects of human health and ecological risk assessments is required. Familiarity with the federal risk assessment process as well as provincial regulations/guidance (such as Ontario Regulation 153/04 or British Columbia Contaminated Sites Regulation) would be beneficial. Experience in data compilation, statistical analysis, contaminant of concern identification, development of conceptual site models, problem formulations, exposure modelling and risk characterization is required. The successful candidate will also help with reporting and with proposal preparation.The Risk Assessor must be able to work independently as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team. The candidate should have a toxicology, health, biological or environmental educational background (M.Sc or PhD preferred) with work experience completing human health and/or ecological risk assessments. The candidate must be fluent both verbally and in writing in English, with French as an asset. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker, will pay attention to details, and can multi-task. In addition, effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines is an important aspect of this position.Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2+ years completing risk assessments following provincial or federal frameworks.
  • Bachelors Degree in Toxicology, Health, Biological, Environmental Science or similar field (M.Sc or PhD preferred).
  • Experience completing human health and/or ecological risk assessments.
