This role is responsible for the investigation and adjusting of intermediate to senior level general automobile bodily injury claims and occasional Commercial General Liability claims.The successful candidate provides SCM standard quality service and facilitates prompt and equitable settlement of claims within the parameters of corporate policies and standards as well as initiates and follows-up on business development opportunitiesCompetencies required to succeed

  • Effective analytical skills including identification of cause and effect dynamics.
  • Proven investigative manner
  • Ability to read and interpret policy coverage.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to draw valid conclusions and effectively communicate them
  • Proactive and positive approach to customer service ensuring all inquiries are effectively dealt within a timely manner
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting priorities in an effective manner

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, negotiate and settle predominantly automobile bodily injury claims, but also occasional commercial general liability claim
  • Direct field investigations as required for exposure and within account guidelines parameters.
  • Make initial contact as per account guidelines.
  • Report to client as per account guidelines.
  • Identify liability exposures, recommend reserves, recommend investigation required for exposure, prepare action plans, and negotiate settlements
  • Provide high level of customer service to clients and insured’s

Education, knowledge and experience required

  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years’ previous bodily injury adjusting experience.
  • CIP designation, or enrolled in CIP curriculum, achieving designation within the specified timeline.
  • Strong computer skills with an aptitude/ability to learn
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Candidate will be required to be licensed in Alberta and BC
  • Potential to work remotely

Sr. BI Adjuster
Salary: $90,000
Hours- Monday to Friday 8 hours per day (any time between 8am-6pm)

Perks- annual incentive bonusAs a Senior Casualty Claims Adjuster – Bodily Injury, you will be responsible for full handling of automobile and property bodily injury complexed claims.REQUIREMENTS:
Full handle of both direct deal and litigated files
Investigate, evaluate, negotiate automobile and property tort loss of moderate to high complexity
Manage challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism
Arrange and manage vendors for your investigation (IA’s, surveillance, legal defense, defense medicals)
Accurately assess and reserve the claim in line with Corporate protocols and guidelines
Maintain control of expenses through pro-active handling techniques
Manage claims in litigation, participate in mediations, pre-trials and trials
Obtain approval from Manager on claims above authority
Assist in training and providing support to the junior and intermediate bodily injury adjusters
Assist the leadership team with operational objectives and special projectsQUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years experience handling Casualty claims required
Strong organizational; decision making and problem solving skillset
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to identify and analyze coverage issues
Expertise in file preparation, and demonstrate ability to negotiate a file to resolution
Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations
Ability to cross-reference information with attention to detail
Strong general computer knowledge required
CIP or working towards designation is an asset
Ability to understand insurance contracts in various jurisdictions is an asset
