Registered Dietitians are valued members of our Allied Services Department. Registered Dietitians assist patients with their nutritional needs performing assessments, and making nutritional recommendations. Registered dietitians are health care professionals who are trained to provide advice and counselling about diet, food and nutrition. Availability to work weekends and statutory holidays may be required on occasion.Union: OPSEU 590Position Responsibilities:
- This position’s primary assignment is to support an acute patient population with a focus on General Medicine and Cardiac conditions. Coverage will include working in various units and programs including inpatient Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, Bone Health Clinic, and our new Heart Failure Clinic and the Reactivation Care Centres (Finch and Church locations) as needed.
- Providing appropriate assessment and treatment of referred patients/clients within an acute inpatient setting.
- Prioritizing patient caseload to meet the needs of referred patients.
- Recording client assessment, progress and discharge status.
- Recording timely workload measurement data.
- Works as a member of the health care team.
- Flexibility in caseload and program assignment.
- Able to manage patient caseload in a busy acute care setting.
- Clinical supervision of clinical nutrition students/interns.
- Some weekend and statutory holiday coverage may be required as needed.
- Cross-coverage at both the Wilson and Reactivation Care Centres (Church & Finch locations) may be required as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Food and Nutrition.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
- Completion of an internship program and a member (or eligibility to become a member) of the Dietitians of Canada.
- 1-2 years clinical experience is preferred.
- Experience in TPN an asset
- Excellent knowledge of clinical nutrition principles and evidence based nutrition practice
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to encourage, support and motivate patients and/or their families from a multi-cultural community.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Able to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to travel for cross-site coverage may be required. Access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Job Description
