Join the Island Gold District team and be a part of the long-life mining operations, as we prioritize our employee growth, high performance and a culture of safety and accountability.Role Overview/Purpose:Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the Mine Geologist – RC Drilling will be primarily responsible for implementing and managing grade control drilling activities to support efficient ore production at the Magino Project.Primary Responsibilities:Supervise Reverse Circulation (RC) drill(s) including logging rock chips and sampling.Inserting blanks and standards into the sample stream.Ensure contractors are compliant with Health and Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.Inspect drills, drill sites and laydown sites.Managing day to day activities to ensure drilling areas are cleaned, available and prepared for drilling.Comply with internal policies and procedures pertaining to the position.Planning, tracking, and managing costs associated with drilling and support contractors.Collaborate with Mine Operations and support contractors.Ensure all downhole surveys are performed at appropriate intervals and recorded daily.Generate reports and maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including progress, costs, equipment maintenance, and safety incidents.Collaborate with multi-functional teams to resolve technical issues, optimize drilling plans, and drive operational excellence.Supervision of RC Geological Technicians.Undertake additional tasks as required to support open-pit grade control operations at the Magino Mine.Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
- 1-2 years of open pit mining experience, preferably managing RC drill programs.
- BSc in Geology or similar field.
- Have proven technical expertise and are good team player.
- Gold exploration experience specifically in Archean greenstone settings. (DESIRABLE)
- Industry standard GIS and 3D modelling experience in one or more of the following would be an asset: Logging software (ie GeoSpark), ArcGIS, QGIS, Leapfrog, Minesight, MS Office Suite. (DESIRABLE)
- A registered P.Geo. or Registered GIT (DESIRABLE)
- Have a good sense of organization and attention to detail.
- Have leadership skills, be motivated and enjoy working in remote areas.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Other duties as assigned.
