The Role:
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer Co-op to join our Research and Development International team as a co-op for 8 months starting in May 2024. The team is comprised of many highly talented enthusiastic individuals who ensure the services and offerings from Kobo are available to both internal and external customers.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Software Engineering, the Software Quality Assurance Engineer Co-op will work with the Research and Development International team made up of developers and testers and take an active part in delivering high quality software to Rakuten Kobo’s users.
The Person:
A passion for software development and delivery
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Have a desire to work in a team but also be self-organising enough to be able to work on a task independently
The Skillset:
Required:
Some previous experience in and Object-Oriented Software Language such as C# or Java
An understanding of T-SQL Databases
Experience with web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)
Some knowledge/experience with modern UI frameworks e.g. Angular, React
Knowledge of using source control systems such as Git, TFS, or Azure DevOPS.
Knowledge of software testing and techniques: Exploratory & Automation testing, White box and black box testing, Static – Manual or Automatic (using some tool e.g. – Veracode, SonarQube), Understanding of Testing Pyramid, Testing framework – Selenium, Playwright, etc., CI/CD Pipeline – Jenkins, Azure pipelines, and/or Dynamic – Unit, Integration, etc.
Tools: NUnit, Postman, Visual Studio, MSTest, etc.
Nice to haves:
An understanding of server-side web technologies such as Web API and MVC
Experience using an ORM framework (NHibernate, Entity Framework)
