Leveraging your progressive accounting, auditing and financial analysis experience, you’ll also assist with the budgeting process, the monitoring of actual results to budget, and external audits.JOB DUTIESMore specifically, as a Financial Analyst within the Accounting Group, you will:

  • Monitor operating and balance sheet activities to ensure compliance under IFRS accounting standards while also accommodating internal financial reporting requirements.
  • Complete various general ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Review cost centre operating activities and obtain explanations for variances between budget and actual spending.
  • Monitor and analyze cost centre labour activities including variance analysis and explanations.
  • Review and analysis of year over year actual operating results and updating of narratives to explain changes.
  • Assist with monitoring of corporate activities to pursue betterments in internal systems and controls.
  • Assist in the completion of monthly and year-end financial reporting as well as year-end process, including completion of working papers and external auditor inquiries.
  • Reconciliations, remittances and annual reporting in connection with various remittances such as T4s, T5s, T4As, EHT, WSIB, OMERS and HST.
  • Assist in the development of operating budgets including performing analyses and projections, summarizing significant year over year changes and providing explanations.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety Act rules and regulations, the IHSA’s Electrical Utility Safety Rules, London Hydro safe work practices and procedures, and all components of London Hydro’s health and safety program.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSThe qualified Financial Analyst we seek must be able to meet the following requirements:

  • You have completed a recognized CPA accounting program (CA/CMA/CGA) or are currently enrolled in the final level of the program.
  • You are proficient in utilizing an ERP system as well as Excel and Word.
  • You bring five (5) years of accounting and financial analysis experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of post-secondary education and 10 years plus experience as Journeyperson required.
  • Skilled trade designation; Journeyperson Powerline Technician required.
