  • Assist in engineering design assignments for road, stormwater, water and wastewater infrastructure, working both independently and in a team environment;
  • Participate in the development of concept, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans;
  • Participate in the preparation of design briefs and applications (MECP, etc.) for approvals;
  • Support in preparing construction cost estimates and quantities, specifications and contract documents, tendering, shop drawing review and construction administration;
  • Support and complete infield construction inspections on projects and resolving construction issues with the assistance of project managers and field supervisors;
  • Assist project managers with quality monitoring, including scope review, budgeting, and scheduling;
  • Support in the review and completion of construction record drawings; and
  • Provide assistance to project managers and office manager with other day to day project operations.

Qualifications:What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering from an accredited Canadian university;
  • 0 to 5 years of engineering experience in land development and municipal engineering;
  • General design knowledge of roads and highways, site servicing including storm, sanitary and water, grading and drainage, and stormwater management;
  • Interested and willing to obtain a sound knowledge of engineering standards, principals, practices and techniques including reference guidelines and design manuals used in land development and municipal engineering projects;
  • Interested and willing to obtain a comprehensive knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and Ontario Provincial Standard Drawings (OPSD);
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and a general understanding of the software design capabilities;
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel abilities;
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications;

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
