As a Mine Geologist, you will one of RockMass’ in-house experts on using the RockMass Eon for underground geological and geotechnical data collection and digital mapping. This is a hybrid role with a combination of office and field work (up to 50% of time) working in underground environments (mining) working on the cutting edge of LiDAR and mapping data. This role requires travel across Canada and internationally, with career growth and leadership opportunities as the Technical Services department expands.Your focus will be travelling to client sites to assist in deploying our digital solutions, applying your technical knowledge of underground projects and downstream modelling to facilitate technology adoption. You will also work with collected data in third party industry standard modelling and analysis software suites such as Leapfrog Geo, Deswik.CAD, MapTek Vulcan, and more.RockMass is a global company and offers flexible work hours as many clients are in various time zones. Responsibilities
As a Digital Mapping Specialist with RockMass, your responsibilities will include:

  • Perform geological and/or geotechnical mapping in underground environments (with or without clients depending on the project)
  • Identify and experiment with new ways to use the RockMass dataset outputs (3D point cloud data, shape files, structural discs, databases) in third-party CAD-based and geotechnical engineering software
  • Teach RockMass customers how to utilize RockMass data in third party software
  • Create guidelines and tutorial videos for third party software integrations to assist RockMass customers
  • Work alongside RockMass’s customers to generate case studies both remotely and on site as required
  • Assist in business development, including but not limited to attending conferences

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or similar
  • 2+ years of experience as a Geologist in mining, exploration, or infrastructur
  • Experience with geological mapping in underground environment
  • Experience with industry standard modelling software, such as Seequent Leapfrog, Deswik.CAD, Vulcan, or Cloud Compar
  • Exceptional written and oral communication
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated and can make decisions autonomously
  • Highly collaborative team member who is open to new ideas and concepts

Nice to have

  • Experience working with new technologies, specifically around spatial technologies (LiDAR, photogrammetry) is an asset
  • Experience in resource modelling within an underground mining environmen
  • Experience working within SaaS sales or at a technology startup is an added benefit, but not required
